Drug Interactions With Alfuzosin (Cont.)

Alfuzosin Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when alfuzosin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Blood Pressure Medications
Check with your healthcare provider before combining alfuzosin with a high blood pressure medication, as it may cause dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension).

Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Some antibiotics and antifungal medications may significantly increase the level of alfuzosin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking any antibiotic or antifungal with alfuzosin. In general, you should not combine alfuzosin with antibiotics or antifungals.

Certain HIV or AIDS Medications
Some HIV/AIDS medications may significantly increase the level of alfuzosin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking any HIV or AIDS medication with alfuzosin. In general, you should not combine alfuzosin with such medications.

Erectile Dysfunction Medications
Other medications that are very similar to alfuzosin can interact with medications for erectile dysfunction (also known as ED or impotence), increasing the risk of dangerously low blood pressure. Although research suggests that alfuzosin does not seem to interact with these medications, caution should be taken when combining these medications.

Imatinib (Gleevec)
Imatinib may significantly increase the level of alfuzosin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking imatinib with alfuzosin. In general, you should not combine alfuzosin with imatinib.
