What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking avanafil (Stendra™) if you have:
 
  • Heart problems, such as congestive heart failure
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension) or high blood pressure that is not controlled (hypertension)
  • Had a heart attack, stroke, serious arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat), or heart surgery in the past six months
  • Chest pain (angina)
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure (renal failure) or are on kidney dialysis
  • Liver disease, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver failure
  • A genetic eye problem, including a rare condition known as retinitis pigmentosa
  • A history of vision problems, such as loss of eyesight or an eye problem called nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)
  • Stomach ulcers
  • A bleeding problem
  • An abnormally shaped penis or Peyronie's disease
  • Blood cell problems, such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia
  • A history of a painful or prolonged erection that lasted for more than four hours (priapism)
  • A history of hearing problems, including ringing in the ears, dizziness, or hearing loss
  • Any allergies, including to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
 
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
 
  • Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Breastfeeding.
 
You should also tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
