Dutasteride/Tamsulosin

Dutasteride/tamsulosin is a prescription drug approved for the treatment of an enlarged prostate (known medically as benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH). As a combination of two BPH medications, it works by shrinking the prostate and improving urination. The medicine comes as a capsule that is taken once daily. Side effects may include dizziness, impotence, and abnormal ejaculation.

What Is Dutasteride/Tamsulosin?

Dutasteride/tamsulosin (Jalyn™) is a combination prescription medication licensed to treat an enlarged prostate (also known medically as benign prostatic hyperplasia, benign prostatic hypertrophy, or BPH). Dutasteride/tamsulosin contains two BPH medicines -- dutasteride (Avodart^®) and tamsulosin (Flomax^®).

Are There Side Effects?

Just like any medicine, dutasteride/tamsulosin can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the medicine will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.

Some of the most common side effects of dutasteride/tamsulosin include but are not limited to:

Abnormal ejaculation
Erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence
A decreased libido (sex drive)
Dizziness
Breast tenderness and enlargement.

If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
