Low Testosterone Causes

There are several possible causes of low testosterone levels, which are usually grouped into two different classifications. If the cause is due to a problem in the testes, it is known as a primary male hypogonadism. If the problem is with the pituitary gland or hypothalamus, it is known as a secondary male hypogonadism.
Some of the specific low testosterone causes can include:
  • Certain genetic conditions
  • Infections
  • Certain medications
  • Various chronic diseases.
Regardless of the specific cause, most cases of low testosterone can be treated effectively with replacement therapy (testosterone medications).
