Men Home > Avanafil Medication Information

Men who have a condition known as erectile dysfunction (ED) may receive a prescription drug called avanafil (StendraTM). This medicine is used to help men get and maintain an erection long enough to have successful sexual intercourse.

Avanafil comes as a tablet that is taken about 30 minutes before sexual activity. Do not use more than one tablet in a 24-hour period. Although most men tolerate avanafil well, side effects may occur and can include headaches, back pain, and a sore throat.

While this product may be effective for many men, it's not appropriate for everyone. Men who have certain medical conditions, such as heart problems, bleeding problems, or hearing problems, may not be able to safely use this drug. Also, avanafil may react with a few other medications, including nitrates.
