If warfarin, corticosteroids, insulin, or certain other drugs are combined with testosterone patches, interactions can occur. Some of these reactions may cause fluid retention, dangerous bleeding, or kidney problems. To prevent these and other possible complications, your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dosages or monitor you more closely.
An Overview of Testosterone Patch InteractionsThe testosterone patch (Androderm®) may react with a number of other medications. Some of the drugs that can lead to interactions with the testosterone patch include but are not limited to:
- Corticosteroids, such as:
- Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
- Insulin of any type
- Propranolol (Inderal®, Inderal LA®, InnoPran XL®, also found in Inderide®)
- Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
