Testred is a medication prescribed to treat low testosterone levels in men and help relieve symptoms of advanced breast cancer in women. This hormone replacement therapy comes as a capsule and is taken one to four times daily. It contains an altered form of testosterone, allowing it to be taken by mouth without being completely metabolized by the liver. Potential side effects include acne and liver problems.
What Is Testred?Testred® (methyltestosterone capsules) is a prescription testosterone replacement medication. It is approved to treat low testosterone levels in men. It is also approved to help alleviate the symptoms of inoperable, late-stage breast cancer in women.
How Does Testred Work?
When and How to Take ItSome general considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Testred include the following:
- The medication is a capsule that is taken at least once a day. Some people take Testred up to four times a day.
- You may take this medication with or without food. If Testred bothers your stomach, try taking it with food.
- For this drug to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Do not increase your dosage or take it more frequently than prescribed without your healthcare provider's approval.
