Average Dose of Megestrol Tablets

The recommended dose of megestrol acetate (Megace®) will depend on the particular product you are using, the reason you are using it, and various other factors. This medicine comes in the form of tablets or an oral suspension. The tablets are used to relieve the symptoms of advanced breast cancer or endometrial cancer. The oral suspension is approved to stimulate appetite and cause weight gain in people with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
The average dose of megestrol tablets for relieving symptoms of breast cancer is 40 mg four times a day. For relieving symptoms of endometrial cancer, the average dosage is between 40 mg and 320 mg, given as several doses throughout the day.
