Megestrol Acetate Suspension

Available as an oral suspension, megestrol acetate (Megace®) is a prescription medication approved to stimulate appetite loss and cause weight gain in people with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). There is also a tablet version of megestrol acetate that is approved to relieve symptoms of breast cancer or endometrial cancer. This medicine is approved for use in adults only.
 
Megestrol acetate oral suspension is taken by mouth, usually once a day; the tablets are taken several times a day. Before using the oral suspension, shake it well to make sure it is thoroughly mixed. Megestrol oral suspension comes with a plastic dosage cup. Use this cup, or another accurately marked measuring cup, to measure your dose.
