Methitest® (methyltestosterone tablets) is a drug that can be prescribed to raise testosterone levels -- but what is it used for, specifically? Methitest is a hormone replacement therapy that contains a slightly altered form of testosterone. It is taken as a tablet and has been approved to treat low testosterone in men.
In addition to increasing testosterone levels in men, this steroid medication has been approved to treat certain cases of advanced breast cancer in women and delayed puberty in boys. This medication is generally well tolerated, but side effects are possible and may include acne, menstrual irregularities (in women), and liver problems.
