Rogaine and Negative Side Effects
Rogaine® (minoxidil) is a nonprescription medicine applied on the scalp to help stimulate hair growth in men and women with androgenetic alopecia, also known as male and female pattern baldness.
Most people appear to respond well to this medication, but there are some possible negative effects of Rogaine that you should be aware of before starting treatment. Some of the most common reactions have included a dry, flaky, and itchy scalp. Other problems may include unwanted facial hair and a red, irritated scalp.
If side effects do occur, they tend to be minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. However, there are some potentially serious problems with Rogaine that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience problems such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, or severe scalp irritation.
