Rogaine Drug Interactions

Rogaine Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Rogaine is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Amifostine
Using Rogaine within 24 hours of receiving amifostine could lower your blood pressure to unsafe levels. Talk to your healthcare provider about this possible interaction if you are on amifostine.

Blood Pressure Medications
Using Rogaine in combination with blood pressure medications could cause your blood pressure to become too low. If you use blood pressure medication, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your blood pressure when you first start using Rogaine.

Cyclosporine
Both Rogaine and cyclosporine may cause abnormal, excessive hair growth. Using these medications together could increase your risk for unwanted hair growth on the face or other areas of the body.

Diazoxide
Taking diazoxide with Rogaine may lower your blood pressure. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your blood pressure when you first start using Rogaine.

Guanethidine
Using Rogaine with guanethidine may increase your risk for severe orthostatic hypotension (a decrease in blood pressure when you stand up). If you are taking guanethidine, your healthcare provider may want to closely monitor your blood pressure when you start using Rogaine. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you experience any symptoms of orthostatic hypotension, such as faintness, dizziness, and lightheadedness.

Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitors (PDE5 Inhibitors)
Using Rogaine while taking a PDE5 inhibitor may lower your blood pressure. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your blood pressure when you first start using Rogaine if you are also taking a PDE5 inhibitor.
