Tamsulosin Interactions Explained

Other Alpha Blockers
It is not known if tamsulosin will interact with other alpha blockers. However, due to the potential for dangerously low
blood pressure (hypotension), tamsulosin should not be taken with other alpha blockers.
Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Taking tamsulosin with certain antibiotics or antifungals can increase the level of tamsulosin in your blood, increasing your risk of
tamsulosin side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your tamsulosin dosage while you are taking antibiotics or antifungals.
Chlorpromazine
Chlorpromazine can increase the level of tamsulosin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your tamsulosin dose.
Cimetidine (Tagamet)
Taking tamsulosin with
cimetidine can increase the level of tamsulosin in your blood, perhaps increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these medications or suggest an alternative to cimetidine.
Delavirdine (Rescriptor)
Delavirdine can increase the level of tamsulosin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your tamsulosin dose.
Diclofenac (Cataflam, Voltaren)
Diclofenac can increase the level of tamsulosin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your tamsulosin dose.
Fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem)
Fluoxetine can increase the level of tamsulosin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your tamsulosin dose.
