Testim® (testosterone gel) is a medication often prescribed to men with low testosterone levels. It is used for treating low testosterone that is caused by either problems in the brain or with the testes. The medicine contains the hormone testosterone in a skin gel; the gel is applied to the skin once a day, usually on the shoulders or upper arms. This drug is used as a gel (not taken by mouth) because it would have little effect on testosterone levels if taken orally.
