Testim Drug Interactions

There are a number of medications that can interact with Testim. Some of the drugs that can interfere with the skin gel include insulin, warfarin, cyclosporine, or corticosteroids. These drug interactions could increase the risk of fluid retention, liver damage, dangerous bleeding, or other potentially serious problems.

 

An Overview of Testim Interactions

Testim® (testosterone gel) can potentially interact with several other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Testim include:
 
  • Insulin
  • Corticosteroids, including (but not limited to):

 

    • Betamethasone (Celestone®)
    • Cortisone
    • Dexamethasone (Decadron®)
    • Fludrocortisone (Florinef®)
    • Hydrocortisone (Cortef®)
    • Methylprednisolone (Depo-Medrol®, Medrol®)
    • Prednisolone (Ovapred®, Pediapred®)
    • Prednisone
    • Triamcinolone (Kenalog®, Aristospan®)

 

 

Testim Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Testim is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
 
Insulin
Testim can decrease blood sugar. If you take insulin, you should monitor your blood sugar more closely when starting or stopping Testim (or even when adjusting your dose). You may need to adjust your insulin dose. Check with your healthcare provider for more specific instructions for your particular situation.
