What Is Testred?

A healthcare provider may prescribe Testred^® (methyltestosterone capsules) as a testosterone replacement therapy in men and as a form of breast cancer treatment in women. But what is Testred and how does it work?

This prescription drug is approved for several uses, including:

Treating low testosterone levels in men
Relieving symptoms of late-stage breast cancer in women
Initiating puberty in boys who have delayed puberty.

This medicine comes in the form of a capsule that is taken by mouth one to four times daily. Although most forms of testosterone cannot be taken orally, as the liver would completely metabolize the drug, Testred contains methyltestosterone, a testosterone hormone that has been slightly altered. This form does not get completely broken down by the liver.
