What Is VigRX Plus Used For?
VigRX Plus™ is an herbal supplement claimed to help with "male enhancement." While it is not exactly clear what "male enhancement" means, the Web site for
VigRX Plus seems to imply that the supplement provides the following benefits:
- Increased sex drive and stamina
- More intense orgasms
- Increased penis size (during an erection)
- Harder erections.
The Web site also implies that VigRX Plus can treat
impotence and premature ejaculation.
You may notice that the Web site and advertisements for VigRX Plus are worded very carefully. As a
dietary supplement, VigRX Plus is not an FDA-approved medication. Therefore, the manufacturer can only make vague claims about the uses or benefits of the product. For instance, it cannot directly claim that VigRX Plus treats impotence, as this product has not been adequately studied in humans or approved (or even evaluated) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is why the packaging and advertisements for most supplements, including VigRX Plus, must carry a statement that says, "These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnosis, treat, cure, or prevent any disease."
How Does VigRX Plus Work?
No studies have been done to see if VigRX Plus really works. Most of the ingredients in it have little scientific evidence to suggest that they have any effect on sexual function. However,
ginseng might help improve
erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation, although much more research is necessary to confirm this claim.
It is not known how ginseng might work for erectile dysfunction. Also, it is not known how (or even if) the other ingredients in VigRX Plus might help with sexual function in men.
